Spring Cleaning

Spring and Shoes

Spring has Sprung!  The buds are bursting forth, the trees are blooming, and green is filling the branches.

After the dormancy of winter, you feel possibility, growth, air and space.

Or do you?

How does your Creativity feel?

How are your Creative Projects coming along?  The book, your performance, your film, the new painting, your keynote……your music?

Are they moving forward clear and clean, or are you staring at a pile of procrastination and endless dust bunnies, thinking

Help, I don’t even know WHERE to start!

It may be time for some Spring Cleaning.

This past week I had a pretty profound experience with my shoes that ended up not only allowing me to let go of what no longer serves me, but also brought in new opportunities to work with fellow artists I adore.

After all, my shoes are what support me and allow me to walk out in the world.  Turns out they also were getting piled up and holding me back.

Who knew all that was waiting in my closet?

Where is YOURS waiting?  Tune in to see how you can go from dusty to clean and chaos to clarity today.

Now I would like to hear from you!

Where do you need to Spring Clean?

Where are the dust bunnies in your Creativity?

Your creativity is your biggest gift.  Allow it to Spring forward and grow.

Creative Miracle

Head Full of Dreams Dance

First class of the year, I stand in front.

I’m eager and ready to move my body after the holiday sleep, and traveling sit.  My newly cut hair is piled up on top of my head in a ponytail, and I can feel tightness in my hips from weeks away, and deep couch cushions.

I’m ready to dance.

The class is the same, a weekly ritual that has served me over the past four years, and I stand in a wide stance, my arms at my side.  The warm-up is set. It’s always the same.

Then the music starts, and for a moment, I hesitate, as I listen to different notes coming out of the surrounding speakers.

This is a new song.
New for 2016.

The teacher leads us through, and for most of it, my body goes on automatic pilot, however, there are some changes.  She actually shortened the routine to fit the music.

We used to warm up to Coldplay’s “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”, and now we stretched and bent to their new song, “A Head Full of Dreams.”

As I listened to the lyrics, and flowed with the class, I thought of all of you:

See the change you wanted..
Miracles at work
Broken windows open, in the light just streams…

I thought of all your Dreams and Visions for this New Year and all you have shared with me. And one question came forth to ask,

What are you letting go of?

This time of year is ripe with possibility and we make all kinds of new promises to ourselves.  We look at our calendar and sign up for new classes, new teachers, new schedules to improve upon what we experienced last year….

All of these are additions.

But, ask yourself, where did you stop last year?
Where did you stop pursuing your Dreams and Creativity?

Where did you go broke?

If we just pile new classes on top of this mentality, where does the real change occur?

If we don’t know what’s holding us back, it will persist, regardless of what we add on.

I have done the warm up to “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” more times than I can count, and while there was a great comfort to that, there was also no further inspiration.  The warm up itself is fantastic, but having the jolt of listening to a new song and taking away some of the movement brought me into the moment.

I became present.

Suddenly the movement that I have done for four years was different.  The intention was the same, but the vehicle had changed, and it actually invigorated my class.

I let go of what the dance had been, and opened to what is was in this moment.

And I wouldn’t have done this on my own.  It happened because my teacher changed it.

My role?  To accept, and trust, and move forward.

And the result is a new dance.  The result is change.

SO, what is your “dance” and what has been the “music” you have played to it?  Has it been working?

You can look at your Creative Vision for this year and come back to the intention, What is it you truly want to achieve?

And in looking at this, What no longer serves that Vision?

Winter is upon us and it’s a beautiful time of cycles.  Before any birth, there is a death.  This is the cycle of life, and we have to make room for new things to appear in our life.

To break free of our past limitations, we need to be willing to let go.
So, what are you ready to release?

Broken windows open, and in the light just streams…..

Now you have a Head Full of Dreams.

Time to Dance.
